Neighbors For A Better San Diego is a grassroots organization that was started to protect neighborhoods from the development of apartment buildings in the backyards of single-family homes.
By bringing homeowners back into the discussion of urban development, we seek the creation of policies that benefit homeowners, renters, small businesses and other stakeholders.
Raising Awareness
Educating homeowners on the negative impact that recent single-family zoning changes will have on their neighborhoods.
Organizing Neighbors
Making sure that our voices are heard in City Hall and Sacramento.
Supporting Responsible Growth
Advocating for planning policies that transform our transit corridors with environmentally friendly and inclusive development, which will benefit homeowners, renters, and small businesses alike.
Our Mission
NFABC is a San Diego-based grassroots organization dedicated to restoring local control over housing and zoning. We unite homeowners, renters, youth, and experts to advocate for practical, safe, and affordable solutions. Starting locally, we lead a statewide coalition working toward a constitutional initiative to secure the future of local control in California.
Every week, new legislation and planning decisions threaten to rezone, densify, or transform neighborhoods — often without any meaningful public input.
While politicians claim to solve the housing crisis, too many are taking campaign checks from real estate interests while pushing luxury development without affordability, infrastructure, or public oversight.
NFABC exists to shift the balance. We give Californians a platform, a voice, and a movement to protect what we love about our towns, cities, and streets — and to build a system that works for us all.
From wildfire safety to affordability and ownership, NFABC empowers communities to shape real solutions that protect our future.

UC PEEPS is a Coalition of University City Residents and Taxpayers that formed from the need to protest the City of San Diego’s reckless and irresponsible high-density housing proposals. These initiatives far exceed demonstrated demand, ignore the need for supportive infrastructure, shift San Diegans from future homeowners to lifelong renters, destroy our urban canopy, fail to provide truly affordable housing, disregard existing residents’ input, and intentionally destroy single-family neighborhoods.

Southeast San Diego Deserves Better
The kind of park that's overdue won't only give our children a safe place to play; it will attract retail investment and uplift the beauty and economy of all of Southeast San Diego---so that there will be a basis and actual transfer of intergenerational wealth---a prevention and barrier to homelessness. It's time to stop talking about intergenerational wealth in our community. It's time to make it happen. It's time for Southeast San Diego to Rise.
Radio Towers Hill can usher in this prosperity. For decades, Southeast families have waited for safe green space to gather, heal, and celebrate. This is our chance to create a landmark that belongs to all San Diegans — a place as iconic as Balboa Park, rooted in community pride and vision. When we Hold the Hill, everyone wins. A destination park here means new trails, open skies, and spaces where neighbors from every part of the city can walk together, celebrate together, and share San Diego from a higher point of view. Dollars will circulate through Southeast shops and cafés, strengthening the entire city's economy. A thriving park uplifts health, safety, and pride for every family. This is a Southeast vision, but it calls for citywide action. We invite allies across San Diego — parents, students, business leaders, and faith communities — to stand with us. Together, we can counter the spread of urban heat-islands, build a park worthy of our children, and write a new story for San Diego: one where beauty and belonging rise above division. Green and orange campaign T-shirts will be coming soon to help you show your support.

Coastal Protection and Save Coastal Access
For many decades, the San Diego region has had citizens who dedicated their hard work and their own money to keep the beach areas as great recreational playgrounds.
These citizens have stood up for beach access, parking, and water quality– the factors which make a visit to the beach a joy, and not a hassle or a threat to health.
One of the most highly respected activists is Donna Frye. From her early work in water quality monitoring, to her later efforts securing walkways, she has represented all San Diegans who value the beaches and coastal communities.

Join Neighbors for Clairemont (NFC) in opposing the construction of 10 Bonus ADUs in our neighborhood. These 10 ADU's (five two story units illustrated in red blocks) plus the main house and attached ADU will destroy the character of this cul-de-sac. Our association has initiated a lawsuit against the City of San Diego and the Developer to contest the permitting process and validity of these 10 bonus ADU's . San Diego City Council ramrodded thru legislation several years ago during COVID mandating unlimited ADU's on single family residences, beyond California's regulations. These disastrous projects are popping up all over the city destroying neighborhoods such as ours and coming to yours soon. Developers are using loopholes to initiate construction without any regard to neighbors or neighborhood planning.
